Death Standing 2 receives further Steam Deck optimisations alongside new fixes
Update 1.5 has been released for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, further optimising the game for Valve’s Steam Deck handheld while delivering various other improvements.
Nixxes and Kojima Productions have confirmed that further improvements to the game are currently in the works. Death Stranding 2 update 1.5 delivers fixes for Steam Input, performance improvements for the game’s IU for mouse/keyboard players, and various other changes. Patch 1.5 for DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH is out now on PC!
This update focuses on additional optimizations for Steam Deck, resulting in improved performance in scenarios such as Bandit Camps. We’ve also implemented various bug fixes and improvements related to Steam Input.
In the Basic Controls menu, you’ll now see how to access Photo Mode on controllers without a touchpad. Additional changes include various bug fixes and improvements to the user interface and localization.

This new update is great news for Steam Deck owners. The game was already Steam Deck Verified, but this update should further boost game performance. These changes may also result in performance gains for other PC gaming handhelds. After all, ASUS’ ROG Xbox Ally uses hardware that’s very similar to Valve’s Steam Deck.
At launch, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach ran well on PC (see our review here). Now, after several updates, the game runs better than ever on PC, especially on handheld gaming devices.
