Development of Resident Evil 4’s HD Project Mod will continue despite Remake Rumours

We have been talking about Resident Evil 4’s HD Project mod since 2016, a project which has updated the PC version of Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 with enhanced lighting, additional shadows, HD textures and updated 3D models.

When rumours started to emerge that Capcom is working on a Resident Evil 4 Remake, many fans of the series wondered what that revelation meant for the Resident Evil 4 HD Project. Would the project be cancelled, or would the mod’s development continue?

On the project’s latest blog post, the team behind Resident Evil 4’s HD Project confirmed that the mod’s development would continue despite rumours of a Resident Evil 4 remake. Given how much Capcom has changed Resident Evil 2 and 3 with their remakes, it is probable that Resident Evil 4 will have similar alterations in its rumoured remake. As such, the original incarnation of Resident Evil 4 should remain worthy of its fan remaster.

Here’s what the team had to say about the prospect of a Resident Evil 4 Remake;

The original game will still be unique and worthy of a remastered version.

Below is a video which showcases a “fully remastered” version of Chapter 4 – 4 of Resident Evil 4, which includes adjusted/improved lighting, re-created and restored textures, lots of small model edits and a series of other improvements.
