DOOM will soon be playable on a lawnmower – Thanks Husqvarna!
Husqvarna’s Automower NERA has become the first lawnmower that can play DOOM
Every computer needs a version of DOOM. That’s a simple fact of life. Why else would modder around the world make the game playable on seemingly every device? Practically everything with a screen has been modded to play some form of DOOM, be it printers, oscilloscopes, player pianos, and now, a lawnmower.
Husqvarna have announced that their Automower NERA lawnmower will be getting “one hell of an update” this April. On April 9th, owners of a Automower NERA lawnmower will be able to download and play DOOM on their smart mowers. This app will be available to play until September 9th 2024.
Using the mower’s screen, gamers will be able to play DOOM using the controls of the lawnmower. The twistable know will turn the player, the start button will move them forward, and pressing on the knob will allow players to shoot their weapons. Sadly, no audio will be available to players due to the Husqvarna Automower NERA’s lack of speakers.
“One hell of an update” makes DOOM playable on Husqvarna Automower
Prepare your robotic Lawn mower for an adrenaline-fueled experience filled with dark corridors and hell-spawned demons. The legendary 1993 video game DOOM will be playable on Husqvarna Automower NERA robotic lawnmower models from April this year. In what we call “one hell of an update”, the software update will be released for download via the Husqvarna Automower Connect App. The decision to release the game to product owners follows the amazing response DOOM x Husqvarna robotic lawnmowers had at the gaming event DreamHack Winter 2023.
Soon, Husqvarna Automower NERA owners will be able to rip, tear, shear, and mow. While we don’t think DOOM playability is a vital feature for a lawn mower, it is certainly a welcome addition.
