Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be a “native” app on Steam
The Steam version of Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not use the EA App
EA has confirmed that the PC version of Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be a “native” Steam application. That means that the game will not be utilising the EA App to run on Steam, eliminating one dependency from the game.
Many recent Steam releases from EA have utilise the EA App to run on Steam. This somewhat undermines the point of a dedicated Steam release, as gamers need an EA account to play these games on Steam. Thankfully, this will not be the case for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come from EA.
While the The Veilguard currently lacks PC system requirements, EA has confirmed that their game is now Steam Deck Verified. This confirms that the game will run well on Valve’s handheld gaming system. This should mean that the game will be fairly easy to run on modern gaming PCs. After all, Valve’s Steam Deck uses integrated graphics, and is much less powerful than today’s discrete GPUs.
We're making great progress towards our fall launch date, and can confirm early that #DragonAge: The Veilguard is going all-in on @Steam features!
