EA rolls out Star Wars: Battlefront II's first major reward system update

Battlefront II's progression system has been widely criticised ever since it became known to the public, forcing EA to make several changes to the system before launch, including the removal of in-game purchases from the game entirely, even if only for a limited time. 

Today marks the first overhaul to the game's progression system since launch, which changes the end-of-match rewards for players, changes to daily login rewards and an increase to the number of credits that players can earn in Arcade mode.   

These changes come long after EA's decision to decrease the cost of Battlefront II's heroes by 75%, showcasing just how poorly tuned the game's economy and progression system was before launch. Now players can earn new heroes over four times faster than before, making the game's original progression system seem incredibly exploitative given the presence of microtransactions/loot boxes.  

Below is a quote that comes directly from EA's announcement, which states exactly how in-game rewards have changed with this new update. 
 

Today, an update went live that includes some adjustments to the economy and progression. While these are only some initial steps toward making much larger changes, some of these are ready to roll, and are available starting today.

The end-of-round payout has been increased. This is an area we agree needed to be buffed a bit, especially when it comes to rewarding players for doing well in-game. We're upping the number of Credits you get for a match across the board, and specifically bumping the top players on each team by even more.

Earn 3X more Credits daily in Arcade Mode. It's been made clear that you were hitting the Arcade Mode Credit cap faster than we expected, so we wanted to alleviate that by increasing it to 1500 Credits. While we're still looking into ways to add more content into it the mode in the long-term, we think that this should help in the near-term for those who want rewards for completing the different scenarios.

Daily Login Crates will now provide more crafting parts than before. You'll notice the change right away when you log in. Crafting the Star Cards you want will help make sure you're progressing in the direction you want, and we absolutely want to empower that. This should help you get where you want to go faster when it comes to crafting and upgrading.

During December several major content updates will be coming to Star Wars Battlefront II, including an expansion to the game's single-player campaign titles Star Wars: Battlefront II - Resurrection.

So effectively sweet F A changes to lootboxes then? Should've known EA wouldn't back down an inch let alone remove the damn things like has begged for by the masses. There's still credit caps and gambling requirements to progress. They'll never learn.Quote
