EA's ending the development Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile

EA's sunsetting two mobile games and shutting down Industrial Toys

EA has confirmed that they are shutting down both Apex Legends Mobile and Battlefield Mobile following the release of their latest financial results. Alongside this announcement, EA has also revealed that Industrial Toys, the developer behind Battlefield Mobile, is being shut down.

Respawn Entertainment, the developer behind Apex Legends and Apex Legends Mobile, has released the following statement about their planned sunsetting of Apex Legends Mobile, saying that the game has fallen short of their standard for quality, quantity, and release cadence. The game will remain playable until May 1st 2023, and all real money payments have been disabled within the game.

At Respawn, we aim to provide players with games that are consistently outstanding. Following a strong start, the content pipeline for Apex Legends Mobile has begun to fall short of that bar for quality, quantity, and cadence. It is for this reason, after months of working with our development partner, that we have made the mutual decision to sunset our mobile game. Although disappointing, we are proud of the game we launched, are grateful for the support of the Apex Legends community, and are confident that this is the right decision for players.

Respawn and the Apex Legends team remain excited about mobile as a platform and look forward to new opportunities to serve players there in the future.

Industrial Toys, a studio that EA acquired in 2018, will be closing down following the closure of Battlefield Mobile. Industrial Toys was founded by Bungie co-founder Alex Seropian in 2012 and focused on mobile shooters. At this time it is unknown how many developers will be made unemployed when Industrial Toys closes down.

I still havent forgiven them for ruining Mythic entertainment. Warhammer online could have been the best PVP mmo out there if they didnt force its release before it was ready.Quote

Not to speak of Battlefield 2042, absolutely horrible at launch due to being launched too soon, due to EA was rushing it.Quote
