Early overclocking results for AMD’s RX 590 look promising

AMD’s RX 590 graphics cards are on the way, and so far the graphics card’s early overclocking results have revealed some impressive overclocking results.

Two RX 590 graphics cards have appeared on the 3DMARK database, courtesy of TUM-APISAK on Twitter, revealing a PowerColor model with a clock speed of 1,576MHz and an XFX model with a core clock speed of 1,580MHz. These stock clocks are significantly higher than AMD’s RX 580 series graphics cards, with overclocking enabling further performance advantages.

Two overclocking results for these PowerColor and XFX graphics cards were also uncovered, revealing clock speeds of 1,645MHz and 1,680MHz respectively, both of which are impressive results, especially after considering the RX 590’s already high base clock speeds.

If these reported results are accurate, AMD’s gamble with 12nm has paid off, resulting in a clock speed advantage that is unseen on even the highest factory overclocks on an RX 580. Remember that AMD’s reference Polaris RX 480 released with a boost clock of 1266MHz, showcasing exactly how far Polaris has come over its lifespan.
