Enhancing a Classic - Voxel DOOM Is now available to download

Voxel DOOM has launched, giving the classic a new 3D look

Voxel Doom is an ambitious graphics mod from creator called Daniel Wienerson (Cheello) that replaces all monsters, weapons, props and items from DOOM with fully 3d voxel models. Today, Voxel DOOM has released on Moddb, giving players of DOOM 1 a chance to replay the classic FPS with new 3D visuals.

What's special about Voxel DOOM is that the game's new voxel art replicates the visual style of DOOM's original 2D artwork. This gives Voxel DOOM the same look and feel as classic DOOM while also offering gamers improved visuals. This is great news for gamers who want to maintain DOOM's iconic aesthetic, while also giving the game a fresher look.

What are Voxels?

For Voxel DOOM, voxels effectively mean cubes. To mimic the classic 2D artwork of DOOM, Voxel DOOM uses 3D models that are built using Voxels (cubes) to create a three-dimensional representations of DOOM's classic look. This enables Voxel DOOM to maintain its iconic look while also featuring 3D props, characters, and enemies.

Voxel DOOM replaces pixel art with voxel art, giving the game a three-dimensional look. The videos below showcase the benefits of Voxel DOOM's new artwork.

Following the release of Voxel DOOM, Cheello plans to create voxel artwork for all of DOOM II's monsters, creating Voxel DOOM II. This will give DOOM II an upgraded look, giving DOOM fans something else to try after playing Cheello's fantastic Voxel DOOM Mod.

PC gamers can download Voxel DOOM from ModdB
