Every Need for Speed game has a 90-95% discount on Steam

The entire Need for Speed franchise is heavily discounted on Steam

Until August 13th, EA has heavily discounted its Need for Speed franchise on Steam. Every game in the series (that is available on Steam) carries a 90-95% discount. This means that every game in the series is available for less than £5 each, with most games being less than £3.

If you are waiting for a new Need for Speed game, I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news. EA has confirmed that Criterion is now focused solely on the Battlefield franchise. With this being the case, Need for Speed has no primary developer. This means that the Need for Speed series is effectively dead. The newest Need for Speed game is 2022’s Need for Speed Unbound.

Sadly, the original PC versions of most older Need for Speed games have been delisted from online storefronts. For this reason, Need for Speed Underground, Underground 2, Most Wanted (the original), and Carbon. So if you want to play the series’ older entries, you have no option but to find original disc-based versions of the game. Sadly, EA doesn’t seem to care about the Need for Speed series. Neither its legacy nor its future seems to matter.
