Fallout: New Vegas RTX is in the works

An RTX Remix mod for Fallout: New Vegas is now in early development

Fallout New Vegas, one of the most beloved games in the Fallout series, is getting full ray tracing (path tracing), thanks to an upcoming RTX mod from skurtyyskirts. This new mod utilised Nvidia’s RTX Remix tools to overhaul the game’s visuals, incorporating full ray tracing, physically based materials, and enhanced assets.

This mod is being created using the same RTX Remix tools as Nvidia’s Half-Life 2 RTX. This game showcases the full potential of RTX Remix, and we are excited to see how this tech can change Fallout: New Vegas.

Currently, Fallout New Vegas’ path tracing mod is in early development. The video below showcases some of the mod’s early progress. A lot of work will be required to complete this mod. Thanks to the proposed mod’s positive feedback, its creator has already said that a full RTX Remix mod is now in “full production.” The modder has also stated that they have no plans to incorporate AI textures into this mod.

Following the success of The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered, it is likely that Microsoft plans to remaster Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas next. Both games would benefit from modernised versions. Regardless, Nvidia’s RTX Remix tools have the potential to create something that looks better than any standard remastering effort. After all, modern console-oriented game remakes will not use path tracing.

If this mod is launches, it will give all PC owners a free upgrade to this modded version. As a PC game mod, this isn’t a commercial project. However, this mod’s creator, skurtyyskirts, is currently accepting donations through Ko-fi.
