Fatshark exits radio silence and reveals Warhammer 40,000: Darktide's release date

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is coming to PC and Xbox this September

It has been a while since Fatshark had anything to say about Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, the company's upcoming 4-player co-op action game. With Darktide, Fatshark is leaving Warhammer Fantasy behind for the grimdark future of the Warhammer 40K universe.

Originally, Warhammer 40,000 Darktide was due to launch in Spring 2022, now the game is due to launch on September 13th. Simply put, Fatshark wanted more time to polish and refine their game, and the studio has claimed that they plan to showcase more of Darktide in the near future.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will be more story-based than Fatshark's prior Warhammer co-op titles, with Dan Abnett, the renowned author behind Eisenhorn and Gaunt's Ghosts, being behind Darktide's plot. Unlike most 40K games, Darktide will not have players sitting within the power armour of a space marine, but in the boosts of Inquisition agents. While these agents will be powerful, they are not superhuman.

Throughout the game, players will be working to rid the hive city of Tertium of Chaotic corruption. A heretical cult known as the Admonition seeks to seize control of the planet Atoma Prime and lay waste to its inhabitants. It is up to players and their allies in the Inquisition to root out the enemy before the planet succumbs to Chaos.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is coming to PC and Xbox Series X/S. The game will be available on Xbox and PC Game Pass on day-1, though PC gamers will also be able to buy the game on Steam.
