Fatshark Games Announces Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide

One of the most well-known popular fantasy franchises of all-time has to be Warhammer. The franchise, created by Games Workshop, saw the light in 1983, and since then countless of video- and board games based in the Warhammer (40k) universe have been released. For all of you who are craving for some good old Warhammer Fantasy gaming action, brace yourselves: a new game is in the making, and it will be released this year!

The game, which is bearing the name 'Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide', will be a co-op action game which will combine first-person shooter combat with melee fighting, according to the press release. Vermintide will take place in the city of Ubersreik, which is under siege during the game. You as a player will be able to choose from five different heroes (all with their own abilities, gear, play styles and personalities), and survive waves of Skaven. Those of you not familiar with Warhammer, Skaven are basically rat people.

Much more of a 40K fan than Warhammer. Yet I will probably get it. I wish they would do an update to the 40K side of PC gaming. I love what Relic did with "Dawn of War" series. Its time for something new.Quote

Aye, I'm really wanting some more 40k too! And not that third-person Space Marines game. It was enjoyable, but not much more than that imoQuote

I loved Dawn of War! I preferred the first one to the second one though and actually stopped playing the second because it required a GFWL subscription for online which is ridiculous!Quote

It will fail. FPS games in the world of Warhammer fade to nothingness.

I really miss Warhammer online, even with its bugs. Unlocking the lore in that game was amazingQuote

Another Games Workshop title with none of my beloved Chaos Dwarves...sorry little guys, you shall stay on the tabletop, never the screen.

It seems ripe for a development of an RTS with so many factions and storyline. Arena play is fun and all, but that's why they had the bloodbowl spinoffs.Quote
