Fortnite servers have entered "emergency maintenance" - Servers offline

The past 24 hours have not been kind to Fortnite, with Epic Games forcing the game to go offline on all platforms for 'emergency maintenance' after players faced issues logging into the game and 'degraded' matchmaking due to 'account service issues'.

While Epic Games seemed to have identified and created an initial fix for the issue, though soon after the developer was forced to take the game offline for 'emergency maintenance', moving the game offline on PS4, Xbox One, PC and iOS. At this time there is no ETA for when servers will come back online.

Epic Games describes the issue as a 'database failure', with the developer stating that the game will remain offline until their database upgrade process is complete. Right now it is unclear whether or not Fortnite's patch 3.5 has anything to do with the downtime.

We're bringing the servers offline for emergency maintenance. We apologize for this inconvenience. We currently have no ETA on when servers will be back up.

(Fortnite has recently released on iOS)

Fortnite has quickly become one of the most popular online multiplayer games in the world, finding success on PC, Xbox One, Ps4 and most recently iOS. An Android version of the game is set to release later this year, though there are also rumours of a Nintendo Switch version.

This downtime comes at an awkward time for Epic, coming soon after a major patch for the game and the title's highly successful launch on iOS.
