Forza Horizon 5’s getting a DLSS 3 update later this month
DLSS 3’s popularity grows – Forza Horizon 5 will soon support DLSS Frame Generation
In November 2022, Forza Horizon 5 received a major update which added support for DLSS 2.4, FSR 2.2, and extended ray tracing options to the popular racing game. This update allowed Forza Horizon 5’s ray traced car reflections to be used within the game’s races and free-roam modes, something that was previously only possible within the game’s Forzavista mode. Now, Forza Horizon 5 is set to receive a major RTX update, and update that is arriving on March 28th.
On March 28th, Forza Horizon 5 will be gaining support for Nvidia’s DLSS 3 technology, which means that users of RTX 40 series graphics cards will be able to utilise DLSS Frame Generation, DLSS Super Resolution, Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing, and Nvidia’s latency-reducing Reflex technology. With support for ray tracing, and DLSS 3, Forza Horizon 5 has turned into a major RTX showcase title for Nvidia.
For the uninitiated, Nvidia’s DLSS 3 technology is an AI-based frame generation technology that uses the power of Nvidia’s RTX 40 series graphics cards to generate intermediate frames in-between traditionally rendered ones. This delivers gamers in a approximate 2x increase in framerate, allowing games to run much smoother. DLSS Frame Generation can be utilised alongside Nvidia’s DLSS Super Resolution technology to deliver even larger performance benefits.Â
Among the highly anticipated games being added to the DLSS roster is Forza Horizon 5, named the best open-world racing game of all time by several media outlets and currently holding the highest rating of any racing game tracked by OpenCritic. Forza Horizon 5, which already supports ray tracing, will update to DLSS 3 on March 28.
With the game’s DLSS 3 update, it is likely that Forza Horizon’s DLSS Super Resolution (DLSS 2) implementation will be upgraded beyond the game’s current DLSS 2.4 incarnation, improving the accuracy of Nvidia’s upscaler. Remember that DLSS Super Resolution is a separate technology to Nvidia’s DLSS Frame Generation technology.Â
