At Google's/Alphabet's recent earnings call they announced that Gmail now has over 1 billion active users, which is over 100 million more than they had last May.

This milestone is massive for the company, making them almost as big as Facebook in terms of active users.

One interesting piece of information that was also announced was that around 10% of email replies on Gmail are automatic, meaning that it is very likely that you have been speaking to a robot rather than your close friends or colleagues.
