Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to PC in Q1 2027 – sources claim
GamesBeat sources point to a Q1 2027 launch for Grand Theft Auto VI on PC
A report has claimed that Rockstar Games plans to release Grand Theft Auto VI on PC in Q1 2027, mere months after the game’s release on current-generation Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Citing four unnamed sources, GamesBeat claims Rockstar and Take-Two plan to bring Grand Theft Auto VI to PC within the first three months of 2027.
If this report is true, this will be the fastest turnaround for a Rockstar Games PC release in recent history. Typically, PC gamers have to wait more than a year for a Rockstar game’s PC version. This was true for Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2.
GamesBeat has confirmed that Rockstar plans to release the PC version of GTA VI in the first quarter of 2027, according to four industry sources familiar with the studio’s plans, all of whom requested anonymity to avoid damaging business relationships. A Rockstar Games representative did not respond to a request for comment prior to the publication of this article.
The Q1 2027 PC release window for GTA VI comes only a few months after the game’s November 2026 console launch, representing a significantly quicker turnaround for PC development than the previous iteration of Grand Theft Auto, whose April 2015 PC release came roughly a year and seven months after the September 2013 release of Grand Theft Auto V.

With the rapid progress of PlayStation-to-PC emulation and game decompilation tools, it makes sense for Rockstar to bring GTA 6 to PC as soon as possible. Without an official PC release, demand for an unofficial version will be huge. With this in mind, it would be wise for Rockstar to bring the game to PC quickly. If an unofficial PC version arrives first, it would undermine Rockstar’s eventual PC launch.
Even today, Grand Theft Auto V is popular on PC. A PC release for GTA VI seems inevitable. Failing to bring the game to PC would only leave money on the table. Whether the game will come to PC in Q1 2027 or not remains to be seen. Hopefully we will see the game arrive on PC sooner rather than later. After all, consoles are expensive, so expecting PC gamers to buy a console to play GTA 6 early is a tough ask; even more so than usual.
