GTA 5 is getting a HUGE PC upgrade next month

GTA V’s “Next-Gen” console upgrades are coming to PC next month

Rockstar has announced that Grand Theft Auto 5 will get a free upgrade on March 4th, finally bringing the game’s “next-gen” features to the PC platforms. This content has been available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for three years, making us question Corsair’s prediction that GTA 6 will come to PC in “early 2026”.

All PC owners of Grand Theft Auto V will be able to upgrade to the new version for free. Players can also carry their progress over to the game’s new version. This upgrade will also grant PC gamers access to GTA+, Hao’s Special Works (HSW), the game’s new “Ambient Animals”,”Wildlife Photography Challenge”, and more.

Furthermore, the PC version of GTA V will soon feature “kernel-anti-cheat” protections and “proactive voice chat moderation”, which should help keep bots (and the worst humans) at bay.

Technical enhancements for GTA 5 on PC

GTA V will soon feature ray-tracing support on PC, enhancing the game’s visuals with ray-traced shadows, ambient occlusion, global illumination, and reflections. Ray-traced ambient occlusion and global illumination will be exclusive to PC, giving PC a graphical edge over current-generation consoles.

With GTA V’s new PC update, DLSS 3, FSR 3, and FSR 1 will be coming to the game. Furthermore, faster loading times will be possible thanks to the game’s DirectStorage integration. DualSense controller support is also coming to the game, as is enhanced audio support.

The original PC version of GTA Online will continue to be supported moving forward. Sadly, the new and old versions of GTA V are separate. Players on one cannot play with players on the other. If you want to continue playing with your friends on GTA Online, you need to use the same game version.
