Helldivers 2 has become PlayStation’s most successful PC launch

Helldivers 2 has surpassed God of War to become Sony’s most successful Steam launch to date

This week, Sony released Helldivers 2 on PC and PlayStation 5. Now, the squad-based shooter has become the most played PlayStation PC title on Steam, reaching a concurrent player count of over 80,000.

Before now, Sony’s God of War was the the company’s largest PlayStation PC launch on Steam. It had reached a peak player count of 73,529 on Steam. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered previously held second place with concurrent player peak of around 64,000 concurrent players. Now, Helldivers 2 is Sony’s top PlayStation PC launch.

Right now, Helldivers 2 holds a mixed review rating on Steam. A lot of PC gamers are reporting frequent crashes and other issues with the PC version of Helldivers 2. Other gamers have also complained about the game’s lack of DLSS or FSR upscaling support.

Another controversial element of Helldivers 2’s PC version is its inclusion of the nProtect GameGuard protection system. This is a kernel-level anti-cheat system, something that many PC gamers do not want to have installed on their systems.

Hopefully, future updates for Helldivers 2 will increase the stability of the game’s Steam version.
