Patch 1.1 delivers performance and stability improvements in Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered

Nixxes has released patch 1.1 for Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered’s PC version, delivering performance and stability improvements to the game. Furthermore, this update solves issues related to Steam Input and addresses a crash that occurred when users adjusted this game’s keyboard/mouse controls.

A fix has been implemented for users of ultra-wide PC displays that caused shadows to disappear or flicker in the city of Meridian. HUD markers should also now render correctly for users of altered FOV settings. Additionally, the audio volume of pre-rendered cutscenes has been normalised, making it the same as gameplay.

  • Pre-rendered cut scenes now have the same audio volume as gameplay.
  • Improvements related to Steam Input*.
  • Resolved a crash that could occur for some players when adjusting mouse and keyboard controls.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause disappearing and/or flickering shadows in Meridian when playing on ultrawide resolutions.
  • HUD markers for objectives are now rendering correctly when using a custom Field of View setting.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause a bow to appear floating in a cinematic.
  • Various user interface improvements.
  • Performance improvements.
  • Stability improvements.

Sadly, Nixxes has not detailed how much extra performance this patch will deliver. The company has also stated that “future patches” will deliver “additional bug fixes and optimizations.”

Owners of Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC can still purchase this remastered version for £10. For series newcomers, this remaster is available for £44.99. Visually, this remaster looks much better than Zero Dawn’s original PC version. That said, newcomers to the series would wait for this new version to be available at a lower price before committing to a purchase. After all, £44.99 is a lot for a remaster of a game from 2017.
