Hyper Light Drifter is currently available for free on PC – Less than 24 hours to redeem

For the next day, Heart Machines’ Hyper Light Drifter is available for free on Windows-powered PCs, courtesy of the Epic Games Store‘s “12 Days of Free Games” promotion.

PC Gamers have until 4 PM (GMT) on December 28th to redeem their free copy of Hyper Light Drifter, giving PC gamers an excellent opportunity to play this indie classic. Epic Games Store veterans will know that this game was available for free back in August 2019, making this the second time that Hyper Light Drifter has been available for free on their platform. 

Hyper Light Drifter is an action role-playing game which pays homage to classic 8-bit and 16-bit games like the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Here, players play as the Drifter, a character that has access to technology which has been long forgotten by the rest of the game world. As the game progresses, players must tackle increasingly challenging monsters and challenges while relying on the game’s music and visuals to tell its story.

Strangely, the Epic Games Store only lists Windows PC system requirements for Hyper Light Drifter, despite the fact that the game supports Linux and macOS on Steam. The Epic Games Store lacks Linux support, but MacOS support is available. macOS support isn’t advertised by the Epic Games Store version of the title, which means that the game is only intended to run on Windows-powered systems on Epic’s Storefront.
