Is your PC ready for Battlefield 2042’s beta? EA has just launched the game’s early system requirements

Battlefield 2042 is due to release on October 22nd, but this month, many gamers on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 will be able to play the game early through its Technical Playtest.

Selected gamers will be able to play Battlefield 2042’s early beta between August 12th and August 15th across five playtest times. This playtest will guide Battlefield 2042’s development and help balance the game before it launches this October.

For PC players, EA has released system requirements for Battlefield 2042’s Technical Playtest, revealing minimum and recommended system requirements that are similar to Battlefield V. CPU and memory requirements remain mostly identical to its predecessor, with the only major change being Dice’s selection of a Ryzen 5 3600 as the game’s new recommended processor, replacing Battlefield V’s Ryzen 3 1300X.

GPU VRAM requirements have also risen with Battlefield 2042, as the game now requires a minimum of 4GB of graphics memory. This means that Nvidia’s GTX 1050, Battlefield V’s minimum GPU, is no longer good enough for Battlefield 2042. AMD’s 4GB RX 560 and Nvidia’s 4GB GTX 1050 Ti are Battlefield 2042’s minimum graphics cards.

Battlefield 2042 is a DirectX 12 title on PC, with Dice appearing to have dropped DirectX 11 support with their latest Battlefield title. Battlefield 2042’s recommended graphics cards are now much higher-end than what was recommended for Battlefield V, with AMD’s RX 580 and Nvidia’s GTX 1060 being replaced with AMD’s RX 5600 XT and Nvidia’s RTX 2060.

If you have a high-end gaming PC, you will be able to run Battlefield 2042’s technical preview. We expect EA to change Battlefield 2042’s final system requirements before the game launches on October 22nd.
