It's finally happening! NieR Automata's Steam Patch launches tomorrow!

In 2017, NieR Automata launched on PC in a poor state, requiring a series of fan-made patches to make the game run well on the platform for all users. After the launch of NieR Replicant, Square Enix saw renewed criticisms of its PC port of Automata, prompting the publisher to fix their four-year-old mistake. Tomorrow, on July 15th, Square Enix will patch the Steam version of NieR Automata.

NieR Automata's framerates have reportedly been stabilised to 60 FPS with the game's new patch. This change alone addresses the game's infamous framerate bugs and should allow PC gamers to enjoy a smoother gameplay experience. Beyond that, Automata's cutscenes will now play at a higher bit rate on PC and at 60 FPS, making Automata's cutscenes look better than ever.

Various new PC settings have also been added to Automata, including support for FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening, HDR, and new Global Illumination options. Automata's Ambient Occlusion and Bloom settings have also been adjusted to operate at a non-fixed resolution, adjusting alongside the player's screen resolution. In short, NieR Automata's Ambient Occlusion and Bloom settings now work correctly at high screen resolutions.

It's finally happening! NieR Automata's Steam Patch launches tomorrow!
Aside from the changes listed above, NieR Automata's Steam version will also be updated with 4K UI elements to make the game look better on modern screens. Below are the full patch notes for NieR Automata's upcoming Steam Patch.

Changes made

• Borderless Video Settings
Borderless video settings have been implemented.
• Fidelity FX
A Fidelity FX CAS feature has been added.
• HDR
The system will now detect whether HDR has been activated in the Windows display settings, and automatically boot the game in HDR mode if it has.
• Anti-aliasing
Adjustments to the anti-aliasing functionality
• UI textures (4K)
Approximately 270 UI textures for icons, backdrops and UI elements etc. now support 4K resolutions.
• Cut scenes
The bit rate has been improved and all pre-rendered cut scenes adjusted, so they will now play in 60FPS and display in the correct aspect ratio without stretching the picture.
• Global illumination
A new “Global illumination” feature has been implemented. This can be set to three different levels; High, Medium or Low.
• Ambient occlusion/ bloom
The rendering targets for ambient occlusion and bloom effects have been changed to dynamic resolution based on the game’s resolution.

Bug fixes

• It is now possible to switch between recently selected display modes for screenshots, such as between full screen and windowed mode or between borderless and windowed mode, by pushing the Alt + Enter keys together.
• The mouse cursor is no longer displayed when using a gamepad controller.
• The frame rate has been stabilized at 60FPS under default settings.
Other stability related fixes have also been implemented.

It might be worth to add a sidenote about the BECOME AS GODS Edition that's available in the Xbox Game Pass: https://overclock3d.net/news/softwar...new_features/1

I just stumbled upon the thread, because I forgot about it and was wondering if the game pass version gets those fixes as well, but with the BECOME AS GODS Edition, everything should be the same now, correct?Quote

The annoying thing is that Square Enix has not commented on what's happening to the Game Pass/Microsoft Store version.

Based on the Steam update's patch notes, the Steam version is getting the features of the Game Pass Become As Gods Edition like HDR support and FidelityFX CAS support and a list of new features and fixes.

Hopefully the Game Pass/MS version will also be updated. Sadly Square Enix has been silent on the matter.Quote
