Microsoft delivers a 60% speed boost with its new Xbox PC App
Microsoft’s Xbox PC app has received some welcome updates
Starting today, Xbox Insiders can access the new Xbox PC app, which promises faster launch times and a snappier overall experience. With this new update, Xbox PC users can benefit from app launch times that are 60% faster, page load times that are up to 50% faster, and in-app Windows openings that are up to 65% faster. While the exact speed change will vary depending on your hardware, those are some tremendous speed boosts.
Performance isn’t the only thing that’s changing with the Xbox PC app. The app now has updated navigation, improved filters, and new ways to organise games. This makes it easier for gamers to browse their collections. Additionally, Friends and Social features are now part of the main navigation menu, making it easier to see what friends are playing, start a chat, or join a party. Improved search features should also make games and add-ons easier to find.
Microsoft has also updated its UI for a cleaner look and feel. Gamers will now see refreshed game cards, plus improvements to the home screen, settings, and animations. These make the Xbox PC app easier to scan and navigate.
In a post, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma said that they are making Xbox on Windows faster, and that Xbox still has “plenty more to do”. That means that we should expect further improvements to Xbox PC and Xbox Cloud.
Microsoft has also made similar changes to its Xbox Cloud Gaming web interface, bringing owned games and Game Pass games together in its library tab. These changes will make Xbox Cloud much more usable, especially on larger screens.
