Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 fails to take-off

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 achieves “Overwhelmingly Negative” review rating as server woes ruin the game

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is now available to purchase, but it’s wrong to say that it is “playable.” Currently, the game is experiencing server issues, which are making it difficult for players to install, update, and play it.

Right now, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has an “Overwhelmingly Negative” rating on Steam. Players there are complaining about several issues, including Asobo’s assistance in installing most of the games through an in-game interface instead of Steam. This makes updating the game difficult and often leads to the game needing updates when you want to play it. Clearly, Asobo has not learned from the mistakes of Flight Simulator 2020.

Installing the game is a slow process, and passing that hurdle leads to long loading screens. Currently, trying to play Flight Simulator 2024 is a miserable experience. For now, we recommend that players avoid this game, at least until the game’s server issues are resolved.

Asobo has acknowledged the issue and released the following statement on Twitter/X.

We are aware of user reports of long initial loading times into Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

With so many users initializing the sim concurrently, we have a large number of server requests. We are working to help resolve the issues as soon as possible.

For users whose initial load is past 90% and no longer progressing, we recommend a reboot. Otherwise we advise waiting to allow the loading to proceed as normal.

As mentioned before, Flight Simulator fans should avoid this game until Asobo’s server issues are resolved. Waiting will ensure that you have a better experience when you eventually play Flight Similator’s 2024 incarnation.
