Microsoft says 64GB of RAM is “Ideal” Flight Simulator 2024 on PC
Is your PC ready for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024?
Microsoft has released its official PC system requirements for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and for the most part, these hardware requirements are reasonable. The game’s minimum specifications call for GPUs like AMD’s Radeon RX 5700 or Nvidia’s GTX 970, which are remarkably low-end for such a good-looking modern release. Even so, this game may push many PC gamers to upgrade their RAM.
At a minimum, this game calls for 16GB of DRAM. While this isn’t an overly high hardware requirement, it is worth noting that 32GB of memory is recommended. If you ask Microsoft what is Ideal for Flight Simulator 2024, they will say 64GB. That’s a lot of DRAM. Beyond that, the game says a 100 Mbps internet connection is also “ideal“.
Below are the game’s full PC system requirements. Note that the game’s minimum and recommended GPUs are very similar. Both are AMD RDNA 1 graphics cards. This suggests that Flight Simulator 2024 will not run well on pre-RDNA Radeon graphics cards. This means that AMD Polaris, Radeon Vega, and Radeon VII GPUs should probably upgrade their systems ahead of Flight Simulator 2024’s launch.
Another thing worth noting is that Flight Simulator 2024 requires 50 GB of storage. However, a fully updated version of the current version of Flight Simulator has huge storage requirements, especially if you install a lot of mods. If Microsoft has managed to lower the storage footprint of Flight Sim 2024 game dramatically, that would be good for all players.
For the most part, Flight Sim 2024’s PC system requirements aren’t hugely high. That said, the “ideal spec” with its 64GB RAM listing is concerning. Will this game fuel a large number of RAM upgrades? I guess we will find out when this game launches.
