Microsoft is bringing their digital assistant, Cortana, to iOS and Android, alongside a Windows 10 Companion App. 'Whatever,' you may say, but this is bigger news than you may think. The Windows 10 Companion App gives you access to content on your Windows 10 PC from any mobile device. And you can use Cortana, which is cool.

It seems Microsoft isn't limiting Windows 10 features to Windows Phone users, which is a good thing of course. I don't see Apple bringing Siri to Android anytime soon, anyway. The Windows 10 Companion App is launching late June for iOS and Android. It will grant you access to your OneDrive files, and it will even allow you to backup your phone to your account. Music stored on your OneDrive account will be accessible through the app too.

Back to Cortana. The virtual assistant will come as a Windows 10 feature, and will work with Windows Phone, and now Android and iOS too. On Android, you'll be able to download Cortana as a separate application, though iOS is shown as 'coming soon'. If iOS will get a dedicated app too, or if it will be integrated with the companion app is unknown.

It's clear Microsoft is really trying to improve their upcoming OS, Windows 10 with interesting features like these. Are you excited for Windows 10? Let us know.

While I doubt I'd install it as a third party app on a phone, I own a Windows Phone which it comes with and it actually works really, really well.

Siri and Google Now can take note.Quote

Am I the only one who see's this gimmick as pointless..

I mean when I see the Adverts "Cortana, remind me when I'm near a florist", I almost want it to respond with "Sod off, if I have to remind you of everything you should seriously seek medical attention".

The date was August 29th, 2017.. when Cortana became self aware.. du du dum dum dum. Quote

But being able to get walking/car directions to the nearest florist/supermarket/whatever when you're in a place where you don't know the way is pretty sweet Quote

We never had that problem before... Just ask someone, I've found over the last few years mobiles and these gadgets have made us so anti social, also dangerous! I've lost count how many people I've nearly killed on the bike because they wander around even into the road because they are transfixed on their screens. (Mobile Zombies)Quote
