Minecraft unveils “The Sift” its first new realm in 15 years

Minecraft Bedrock and Java Editions will be getting access to a new realm in 2027

It’s official: Minecraft is getting a new dimension. For the first time in 15 years, Minecraft players will be getting an entirely new place to explore, complete with unique biomes, creatures, and threats. Joining the Overworld, the Nether, and the End is the Sift.

Gamers can see The Sift first in Minecraft Dungeons 2 on September 29th. For Minecraft Java and Bedrock Editions, The Sift will be coming to the game in 2027. So far, Microsoft has unveiled the Sift’s Meadows and Carapace biomes, but is keeping everything else a secret for players to discover in Minecraft Dungeons 2.

The region will deliver a wealth of new materials and content for Minecraft players. Sadly, Microsoft’s reveal during Minecraft Live didn’t showcase much. We see pink grasslands under a turquoise sky with rabbit-like creatures walking through it.

We’ve visited the Overworld, the Nether, and the End. Now, prepare yourself for a journey to the Sift.

First announced at Gamescom and showcased in more detail at Minecraft LIVE today, The Sift is the first new dimension in Minecraft in over 14 years, and players will be able to visit it in just a few days, when Minecraft Dungeons II launches on September 29.

But on top of that, Mojang Studios confirmed that the Sift will come to Minecraft in 2027, offering an entire new dimension for you to explore, survive, and create within.

Xbox has warned that Minecraft Dungeons 2’s expression of the Sift may differ from its representation in Minecraft itself when it arrives in 2027. Regardless, the game should give Minecraft veterans an idea of what to expect. It’s an exciting time to be a Minecraft player. A new dimension hasn’t arrived in the game for over 15 years.
