Modders Beware – Hackers can use Cyberpunk 2077 to hack your PC

CD Projekt Red’s Customer Support team has confirmed that some external DDL files that Cyberpunk 2077 users “can be used to execute code on PCs”, making the game a potential exploit tool for those who mod the title.

In a recent Twitter post, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that they will be working to patch the game as soon as possible to address the issue, and have warned their players from using files from “unknown sources”.

Using mods or custom saves, hackers could potentially use Cyberpunk 2077 to literally hack your PC. This is not a good look for any game, especially one with hacking as one of its main themes.

For now, PC gamers should stay away from mods of custom Cyberpunk 2077 saves that come from unverified sources. We expect CD Projekt Red to release a hotfix for this issue within the next few days.
