Mojang reveals “Vibrant Visuals” upgrade for Minecraft

Minecraft is getting a major graphical overhaul with its “Vibrant Visuals” update

At Minecraft LIVE, Mojang confirmed that the game is getting a major graphical overhaul. Soon, the world of Minecraft will be transformed with the game’s “Vibrant Visuals” update.

This update will not change Minecraft’s gameplay. However, it will make the game much more visually appealing on supported platforms. This update will work on existing Minecraft worlds, making them look better than ever.

With volumetric lighting, players will see the sun’s rays carve across the overworld. Every block will cast shadows, and there will be reflections on water and metallic blocks. Subsurface scattering will also impact the look of grass and leaves. Emissive textures will also have a new look, from the glow of torches to the glow of the eyes of spiders and Endermen.

Vibrant Visuals will initially only be available in Minecraft Bedrock Edition. However, these changes will also be available in Minecraft: Java Edition at some point in the future.

The full feature set of Minecraft’s Vibrant Visuals update will not be available on all platforms. Mojang hopes to bring this update to as many platforms as possible. Some platforms will have “partial” support for the game’s “Vibrant Visuals” feature set, while others will be fully supported.
