Monster Hunter Wilds is one of Steam’s most popular games, but reviews are mixed
Over, 900,000 people are playing Monster Hunter Wilds on Steam
Monster Hunter Wilds is now available on PC and it already has almost 1 million concurrent players on Steam. In terms of peak player count, Wilds has already become Steam’s 8th most popular game of all time.
While the game has proven to be hugely popular, user reviews for the game are mixed. Most bad reviews complain about the game’s performance. Simply put, the game runs poorly on the PC platform. That means that many PC gamers need to either lower graphical settings or invest in more powerful hardware. Even users with ultra-high-end PCs are complaining about performance issues.
Many gamers are comparing the “optimisation” of Monster Hunter Wilds to Dragon’s Dogma 2, another Capcom game that was made using the RE Engine. Both games have had performance complaints at launch, and both games are large open world games that use the RE Engine. This fact has led many to question the RE Engine’s ability to run such large-scale open world games, calling on Capcom to rework the engine, or use something different for these kinds of titles.

While the game has its problems, it looks like Monster Hunter Wilds has been a huge financial success for Capcom. Let’s hope that the company can improve the game’s performance on PC and consoles, as its high system requirements have lowered the game’s accessibility on PC.
