New Witcher 3 modding tools will make new HairWorks assets possible – Yennefer Proof of Concept released
Now, a new version iteration of these modding tools are in the works, bringing with it, amongst other things, the ability to add new HairWorks assets into the game. This change will allow modders to bring more realistic hair to any character within the game.Â
To highlight this new addition, a modder called rmemr has created a proof of concept mod called “HairWorks for Yennefer”, a proof of concept that brings HairWorks to one of the game’s main characters. This mod hasn’t been designed with hardware optimisation in mind, so gamers using this mod should expect it to decrease in-game framerates when Yennefer is present in-game, especially for users of older graphics cards.Â
This mod will act as the basis for future HairWorks mods for The Witcher 3, which will allow gamers to further enhance The Witcher 3’s visuals. Below is what the mod’s creator has to say about Yennefer’s new hair over on Nexus Mods.Â
In the upcoming radish modding tools update it will be possible to add new hairworks assets (hairstyles or fur) to the game. An example proof-of-concept project for a Yennefer hairstyle will be included to get mod authors a quickstart and will contain all the used “source” files (3dsmax). The example *does* have some issues and was not meant to be published.Since multiple people kept asking for it as a mod… here it goes… However, as much fun as it was to play with 3dsmax to create the example it will stay as it is and there will be NO UPDATES unless someone else continues the work form the example project or creates something from scratch.
Here you can see the hairstyle in motion.
If you are interested to continue/create new hairworks hairstyles come to the radish modding tools discord server and ping me.
Performance
It’s Hairworks – of course there is a performance hit. Also this hairstyle is not optimized in any way. If you care about performance or are obsessed with the fps counter you probably should not install this. Newer cards will probably not have noticeable problems, though.
