Nintendo reveals their first trailer for The Super Mario Movie  at Nintendo Direct

Following the company's latest Nintendo Direct livestream, Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment have released their first trailer for 2023's The Super Mario Bros Movie.

In the trailer below, Nintendo has showcased incredible 3D animation and have highlighted the movie's high fam voice cast, which includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Sebastian Maniscalco is Spike, and Charles Martinet (Mario's original voice actor) as various unannounced characters.

As for Chris Pratt's portrayal of Mario, well, he sounds like Chris Pratt with a light accent. That said, Mario doesn't say many lines in The Super Mario Movie's trailer, so we shouldn't draw any big conclusions based on these voice lines alone.

Visually, The Super Mario Movie looks superb, with the trailer below highlighting many environments that will be familiar to Mario fans. Right now, the movie is due to be released in North American Cinemas on April 7th 2023, and on April 28th in Japan. Currently, there is no known UK or European release date for the movie.

That animation is gorgeous. Wish they would have used the real Mario voice actor though.Quote

Yeah, kinda like director Michael Bay hired Peter Cullen for the voice of Optimus Prime, for the last 5 Transformers movies. Since he did the original Optimus voice in the early animated shows.Quote
