Nvidia GRID now streams in 1080p at 60 FPS

Nvidia has upgraded its cloud gaming platform, named Nvidia GRID, to support game streaming at 1080p with frame rates up to 60 FPS. Nvidia states that they've spent years perfecting cloud gaming. It seems they've succeeded.

Nvidia states that, while movie services have been streaming in 1080p for a while now, streaming games is a lot harder as it requires a fast response time. 'Most people don’t mind when you press “play” to watch a movie and it takes a little time to buffer and start. But you can’t buffer gameplay.'

The blog post also explains how you can access the new SHIELD Hub beta via a SHIELD device like the original SHIELD or the SHIELD tablet. This beta includes the option to pair your SHIELD device with your PC, alongside a new UI based on Google's Material Design Language.

There are currently more than 35 games available in the GRID library that support streaming at 1080p with 60 FPS. These include Batman: Arkham Origins, DMC 4, Borderlands (2), Metro Last Light Redux and Dirt 3 Complete Edition.
Nvidia also announced they now have six GRID data centers running, and plan on bringing another one online in Central Europe later this month.

Nvidia ended its blog-post as follows: 'We invite you to try game streaming at 1080p60 for yourself. But I have to warn you. It will be hard to go back.'
