Nvidia hackers have leaked the company's Deep Learning Super Sampling Source Code
One of Nvidia's most valuable gaming technologies is DLSS, their AL-accelerated upscaling technology that deliver near-native (and sometime better than native) levels of image quality and much higher performance levels. In effect, Nvidia's Deep learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology gives Nvidia's hardware a free performance boost when used with supported software, giving Nvidia a major advantage over their rivals.
On February 23rd, Nvidia security was compromised, allowing a group called LAPSUS$ to steal 1TB of data from the company. This data includes what appears to be source code for Nvidia's DLSS 2.2 technology, which has now been made available online.
What makes DLSS special is its use of the Tensor cores on Nvidia's latest graphics cards, allowing DLSS to accelerate workloads without taking traditional compute resources away from other areas of the graphics card. The technology's use of Tensor cores has also allowed Nvidia to block DLSS' use on hardware from their competitors, making DLSS an Nvidia only technology.
Techpowerup shared the screenshot below of Nvidia's alleged DLSS 2.2 source files. While this data leak could be hugely damaging for Nvidia, it is worth noting that Nvidia's competitors cannot legally use this source code on their own projects. That said, this source code could be used by Nvidia's competitors to look at some of Nvidia's secrets. That factor alone makes this potential leak hugely damaging for Nvidia.
While Nvidia's hackers have reportedly released some of their stolen data online, we recommend that our readers do not seek out this data or use it in any way. Nvidia's code was illegally obtained and cannot legally be used by anyone. Beyond that, there may be ransomware or virus packages online that are masquerading as Nvidia's leaked DLSS source code.

Well done for leaving the disclaimer at the end there, Mark. I think it's important that people hear news like this but just leave it at 'hearing' it.

Especially since most people wouldn't even know what to do with the source code... They would just get it to be cool and say they have it

I imagine someone is going to create malware and insert into a file involving DLSS source code ready to catch many out. And as you said, they would get it just to be cool or be curious to see what source code looks like.Quote
