Nvidia's RTX 4090 convinced Blizzard to up Overwatch 2's framerate cap to 600 FPS

Watch Overwatch 2 running at  360+ FPS on Nvidia's RTX 4090 at 1440p

Nvidia has confirmed that Overwatch 2 will release on PC with support for Nvidia Reflex and a framerate cap of 600 FPS, stating that the power of their RTX 4090 graphics card convinced Blizzard to increase the game's framerate cap from 400 FPS to 600 FPS.

To showcase the game in action, Nvidia released gameplay of Overwatch 2 running at 1440p High settings (and Nvidia Reflex enabled) on an RTX 4090 graphics card with framerates in excess of 360 FPS. In moments of the video below, framerates of over 500 FPS are recorded, and input latencies of under 10ms are achieved.

With their RTX 4090 graphics card, Nvidia has declared that 1440p is not the resolution of choice for competitive gamers, citing the resolution benefits and high refresh rates of modern 1440p gaming monitors now make them preferable to high refresh rate 1080p screens.

Watch the first ever Overwatch 2 gameplay on GeForce RTX 4090 at over 360 FPS and sub 10ms latency, running at 1440p resolution with NVIDIA Reflex and high settings. Thanks to the incredible power of the GeForce RTX 40 Series, Overwatch 2 has increased its framerate cap from 400 FPS to 600 FPS. With the power of GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs and NVIDIA Reflex, 360+ fps 1440p competitive gaming is now a reality.

Asus are working on a 500Hz one due this year, I'd wager 600Hz will come a year or 2 after.Quote

"achievable with 1080p gameplay, but 1080p isn't our recommended competitive competition target resolution, 1440p is but you won't hit 600fps"

Sums up Nvidia. Make a claim then immediately put a caveatQuote
