Oblivion Remastered mod claims +37% FPS boost with AI code
Modder claims huge Oblivion Remastered FPS gains with Claude-made game mod
The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered is a demanding game. CPU bottlenecks can often cause stuttering, and the game can also be incredibly GPU-heavy. Using Anthropic’s Claude LLM, modder LTSharpe created a mod that fixes many of the game’s performance issues. In the video below, the mod delivers a 37% FPS boost in Oblivion Remastered.
In LTSharpe’s benchmark comparison, his mod reduces the number of stutters from 66 to 11 and increases the game’s 1% low FPS from 18 FPS to 26 FPS. That’s a 44% increase in 1% low framerates. With the fix enabled, Oblivion Remastered runs much smoother on PC. Better still, the game appears to have no noticeable graphical downgrades when the mod is enabled.
LTSharpe’s mod is available now on GitHub and Nexus Mods. Many early users of the mod have reported tremendous performance gains, with one Ryzen 7 5800X3D user reporting a 50% FPS improvement.
With AI, one gamer delivered in weeks what Microsoft couldn’t in 18 months
LTSharpe claims his AI-made mod took only 2.5 weeks to produce. Since launch, Microsoft has done little to improve The Elder Scrolls VI: Oblivion Remastered’s performance. For many users, this mod’s FPS boost has transformed The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered. Not only does the game run at higher framerates, but it also runs with fewer hitches/stutters. That’s a huge win for gamers. Perhaps Xbox Labs can look into this.
