Obsidian would love to see a Fallout New Vegas Remaster for modern consoles

Fallout New Vegas deserved a “graphical remaster” – Obsidian Directors

In an interview with Obsidian Entertainment’s Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, The Gamer has confirmed that both game directors would love to see a remaster of Fallout New Vegas for modern consoles, stating that such a remaster would be “awesome”. 

This news comes hot on the heels of the reveal of The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition, a remaster of The Outer Worlds for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 that will include improved visuals, improved game AI, and all of the base game’s DLC. This remastered game will be released on March 7th, and will be available with a steep discount to owners of The Outer Worlds (and its DLC) on all platforms.

Both Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky agreed that they would love to see a “graphical remaster” of Fallout New Vegas, as the game’s story and content still attract players to the game to this day. With a graphical overhaul, Fallout New Vegas can be introduced to a new audience and give existing fans of the game a more graphically impressive version of the RPG to replay.

With Obsidian launching The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition next month, it is clear that Obsidian are willing to improve and re-work their existing games, and now that Microsoft owns both Bethesda and Obsidian Entertainment, there is no reason why the latter cannot remaster Fallout: New Vegas. 

With Fallout New Vegas now being two console generations old, the game could do with a facelift, and now that older-generation consoles are becoming harder to acquire, it makes a lot of sense for Microsoft, Bethesda, and Obsidian to revamp the game for modern gaming systems. That said, Microsoft has utilised emulation to get the Xbox 360 version of the game running on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. with the game supporting 60 FPS framerates though FPS Boost on the latter consoles.

Personally, I would love to see a remastered version of Fallout New Vegas become available, and a remastered version of Fallout 3 for that matter. Both would be guaranteed money spinners for Microsoft, and releasing them on platforms outside of Xbox should help generate good will with regulators should Microsoft continue acquiring game developers.
