Optiscaler enables AMD FSR 4 upgrades for almost all modern PC games

Optiscaler gives AMD’s FSR 4 upscaler a major boost

AMD’s FSR 4 AI upscaler has given team Radeon the image quality they need to combat Nvidia’s DLSS tech. Now, AMD needs to catch up with Nvidia by integrating FSR 4 into more games, as only around 60 PC games currently support FSR 4. Thankfully, Optiscaler has come to add AMD FSR support to a larger number of games.

Thanks to Optiscaler, any games that support Nvidia DLSS 2+, AMD FSR 2+, and Intel XeSS can be modified to support FSR 4. Currently, FSR 4 is only available on AMD RDNA 4 graphics cards, and Optiscaler cannot add FSR 4 support to games that use the Vulkan API. Furthermore, Optiscaler should not be used with games that use an anti-cheat system.

Optiscaler can also be used to enable FSR Frame Generation in games, and to translate Nvidia Reflex to support XeLL (Xe Low Latency), and AMD Anti-Lag 2.

A big win for RDNA 4 GPU users

While direct game integrations are preferable, OptiScaler enables AMD RDNA 4 GPU users to utilise FSR 4 in games that will never be officially updated to support it.

If a game uses anti-cheating tools, players should avoid using OptiScaler. This tool can be seen as a cheat, and that could get users banned from online games. If AMD updates FSR 4 to support Vulkan, OptiScaler could potentially be used to support Vulkan-based games.

(FSR 4 isn’t currently supported on Vulkan-based games)

What games support FSR 4 through OptiScaler?

OptiScaler’s userbase has created an official compatibility list for FSR 4. This allows AMD RDNA 4 GPU users to quickly see what games work well when using FSR 4 with OptiScaler. It also has handy tips on what settings users may need to enable.

PC gamers can learn more about OptiScaler on the tool’s GitHub page.
