Overclockers reach 1,000FPS in DOOM Eternal with LN2

Now we need is a 1000Hz monitor!

Overclockers reach 1,000FPS in DOOM Eternal with LN2

When DOOM Eternal was still in development, id Software confirmed that the game could run at or above 1,000 FPS if played on powerful enough PC hardware. With that knowledge came the DOOM Eternal 1K challenge, and the driver for overclockers to create the first PC capable of running DOOM Eternal at 1,000 FPS.

As part of QuakeCon at Home, the Polish Overclocking Team x-kom took on the DOOM Eternal 1K challenge, overclocking both an Intel i7-9700K to 6.6GHz and an ASUS ROG Strix RTX 2080 Ti to 2.4GHz under liquid nitrogen cooling to complete the task.

In the video below, Piotr "Lipton" Szymanski and Marcin "Ryba" Rywak managed to play DOOM Eternal at 1,000 FPS, pushing the limits of DOOM Eternal's id Tech 7 engine.

x-kom have proven that DOOM Eternal's engine-level support for 1,000 FPS is more than theoretical. That said, it will be a long time before these framerates will be achievable outside the realms of LN2 overclocking.

Below is the description of Bethesda Polska's "DOOM Eternal: The 1K FPS Challenge" video. A more detailed report on the DOOM Eternal 1K FPS Challenge is available to read on Bethesda's website

See how Polish team of x-kom led by Piotr "Lipton" Szymanski and Marcin "Ryba" Rywak takes on world's first attempt of running DOOM Eternal in record-breaking 1000 frames per second on a specially build, overclocked platform cooled with liquid nitrogen.

Platform specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7 9700K @ 6.6GHz
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus XI APEX
GPU: ASUS RTX2080Ti Strix @ 2.4GHz
RAM: HyperX Predator 4000MHz CL19 2x8GB
Drive: Samsung 512GB M.2 NVMe Evo Plus
Power: Be Quiet 1200W Straight Power

this is pretty cool from a benchmarking perspective. A game that will continue to scale with improved performance with a very high ceiling. Allowing comparison of hardware that is potentially years apart.Quote

Yessir! I was hearing of the scalability from the developers, but that isn't always believable until witnessed.
