Overwhelmingly Negative – Overwatch 2 is now available on Steam, and reviews aren’t positive
Overwatch 2 receives “Overwhelmingly Negative” reviews on Steam following launch
Overwatch 2, Blizzard’s free-to-play hero shooter, is now available on Steam, and while the game is secured a strong playerbase on the platform, with over 50,000 concurrent players at the time of writing, that hasn’t stopped gamers from telling Blizzard what they think in the game’s review section.Â
Currently, Overwatch 2 has an “Overwhelmingly Negative” review rating on Steam, with over 65,000 negative reviews and under 7,300 positive reviews. Some of these reviews complain about Overwatch 2’s abandoned features, other complain about how the game has been “downgraded” compared to Overwatch 1, others complain about the game’s balance, and some gamers simply recommend Team Fortress 2 as an alternative.Â
On the website Steam250, Overwatch 2 is now the number one game on the website’s “Hall of Shame“, making Overwatch 2 the worst reviewed game on Steam. That said, in terms of raw player count, Overwatch’s Steam launch is likely seen as a success for Blizzard, even if it has revealed how much hate there is towards the game.
With the launch of Overwatch 2 on Steam, it is clear that Blizzard has a long road ahead of it if they want to regain the trust of Overwatch’s fanbase. A lot of complaints about the game are about counter-picking, premium content, missing content, bugs, and balance issues, most of which can be addressed with game updates.
