Petroglyph Games reveals its latest RTS - The Great War: Western Front

From the former developers of Command and Conquer comes The Great War: Western Front, a WWI RTS

Petroglyph Games, the developer behind Command and Conquer Remastered, has announced their latest RTS, The Great War: Western Front. As you can guess based on the game's name, The Great War: Western Front is a World War I game, a title which will include both real-time battles and a strategic turn-based mode. Gamers will control either the Allied powers of the Entente Cordiale or the Central Powers to gain victory in The Great War between 1914 and 1919.

With a combination of real-time battles and a strategic turn-based over-layer, players must control battles of grotesque attrition, order artillery strikes and command forces "over the top" in the game's RTS battles, and manage your nation's morale while investing in advanced technologies in the game's turn based strategic layer.

Battles within campaigns of The Great War: Western Front will be in a "living, persistent world". Fortifications that players build will survive from battle to battle, and destruction will persist and build up as the war progresses. Weather conditions will present players with new challenges, and deteriorating environments will add new tactical opportunities and challenges to players.

Alongside the game's Campaign mode, Historical Battles, Skirmish, and Multiplayer modes will also be available to play. Below is Petroglyph Games' first trailer for The Great War: Western Front. The studio has promised the more gameplay for their game will be released in the coming weeks.

Petroglyph Games is a studio that is lead by several Command and Conquer veterans, giving the studio a strong RTS pedigree. The Great War: Western Front will also be tapping the musical talents of Frank Klepacki, the original composer for the Command and Conquer franchise.

The Great War: Western Front is being published by Frontier Foundry and is due to launch sometime in 2023 on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The art direction is hideous. I really hope they clean it up a bit. Despite the modern graphical effects, the weird colors and severe contrast make it look like an early 2000's game.Quote
