PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS has sold over 20 million copies

It has been announced that PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has sold over 20 million copies on PC, only two months after the game surpassed DOTA 2 as the most played game on Steam.

Over the past 24 hours, the game has had a peak player count of over 2.4 million, which is an astounding number of people given the fact that this game is a premium Steam Early Access title.

Note that this game is set to release on Xbox One on December 12th, with a major PC update being planned for later that month, bringing the game out of Steam Early Access as version 1.0, which undoubtedly will bring more players to the game. This update is expected to add vaulting and climbing to the game as well as a new desert map, which undoubtedly bring both old and new players into the game.

PUBG is easily one of the biggest gaming success stories of 2017, exploding in popularity without the need of backing from a major publisher or cutting edge levels of graphical fidelity. The success of PUBG has even brought with it a few imitators, with several other "Battle Royale" games coming to the market in recent months.

As the holiday season approaches PUBG is only expected to find even more success, with the game releasing soon on Xbox One and receiving some major PC updates in the near future. Will 30 million copies be sold before the end of the year?
