PUBG's latest update brings a lot of new client/server optimisations

A huge 9.1GB update has landed for PUBG, introducing a large number of bug fixes, new features, client optimisations and more, delivering users a better PUBG gameplay experience.

The highlights of this update include the game's new PUBG friends list, which can host up to 80 players regardless of their chosen platform, this feature is independent of Steam's friend system. A new emote system has also been added to the title, offering players 12 default emotes at the time of writing. 37 Steam achievements have also been added to the title.

Some of the most exciting changes to the game include optimisations to PUBG on both the server and clientside, delivering improved response times thanks to reduced input lag on the client side, mitigations for frame drop issues when maps load, and changed to vehicle physics and GPU performance enhancements for buildings in Erangel. On the server side, PUBG Corp has improved their networking performance and optimised vehicle physics when travelling at low speeds.

The game's Miramar map has also been edited to create holes in the ceilings and floors of high buildings, which can be used to move to different levels more efficiently, speeding up gameplay.

At this time the performance impact of PUBG's latest update is unknown, though the update's promised reduction of input lag should improve the gameplay experience of all players, making the game feel more responsive.

Later this month, PUBG Corp wants to start testing the game's upcoming limb and vehicle bullet penetration systems, which will significantly impact PUBG's gameplay experience.
