Real-Time Snow Showcased within Microsoft Flight Simulator

Microsoft Flight Simulator is an incredible piece of software, offering gamers one of the most true-to-life representations of the earth with accurately simulated cities, real-world flight data and live weather simulations. Graphically, Microsoft Flight Simulator can deliver some of PC gaming's best visuals, but the game has its limitations.

While Microsoft Flight Simulator's weather can be manually set to enable snow, thus far the game's Live Weather system has not supported live snow and ice coverage, leaving a hole in the game's otherwise incredibly accurate simulations. Now, as part of Asobo's New Year Greeting for fans, the company has showcased Real-Time Snow within Microsoft Flight Simulator.

In the 4K trailer below, Microsoft Flight Simulator showcases a world covered by snow with floating ice sheets and frozen lakes depending on the player's location. With this update, PC gamers can fly over familiar locations which now have an entirely new look, provided you are flying over somewhere in the northern hemisphere.

Over time, Microsoft Flight Simulator will continue to be updated, offering PC gamers enhanced visuals, improved performance and new features. Microsoft plans to update Flight Simulator for years to come, both on PC and Xbox Series X/S (after the game launches on those console platforms).
