Red Dead Redemption has been re-rated in Korea – Is a remaster coming?
Has the GRAC revealed a Red Dead Redemption remaster?
South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) has recently rated a new version of Red Dead Redemption, suggesting that a new version of the game is in the works. Sadly, this rating is not linked to any specific gaming platform, though it is probable that a Red Dead Redemption Remake or Remaster would be targeted at PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and possibly at PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Given Red Dead Redemption’s origins on PS3 and Xbox 360, a Switch port of the game could be possible, albeit unlikely.Â
Take Two Interactive Software and Rockstar games have not officially revealed any plans to remake or remaster Red Dead Redemption, but they have been pushing a lot of remasters in recent years. For starters, Rockstar released a new version of Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and more recently they have remastered the GTA Definitive Edition Trilogy, which contained GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas. While the latter remaster was flawed and poorly received by gamers, there is a lot of interested in a new version of Red Dead Redemption for modern gaming systems.
With Red Dead Redemption 2 being a prequel to Red Dead Redemption, it would make a lot of sense for Rockstar to remake or remaster the game. A lot of Red Dead Redemption 2 fans would love to continue the game’s story, which saw players take control of Red Dead Redemption’s protagonist, John Marston.
Red Dead Redemption was never released on PC, and I think I speak for most PC gamers when I say that we would love to see Red Dead Redemption on our gaming platform. Let’s hope that the GRAC’s new rating for Red Dead Redemption is a sign of what is to come, as I would love to see Red Dead Redemption on modern gaming platforms.Â
