Rockstar’s GTA VI “An Extended Look” will be behind a paywall
Grand Theft Auto VI’s upcoming “An Extended Look” will premiere first to Netflix subscribers
Rockstar Games is getting ready to give gamers “An Extended Look” at Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) on August 27th. The premiere will be at 3 PM ET (8 PM BST), and will be exclusively shown on Netflix. Yes, Rockstar Games has paywalled its upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 showcase.
Thankfully, the event is due to become available on YouTube six hours later at 9 PM ET. Unfortunately, that’s 2 AM in the UK. Not only is the initial viewing paywalled, but its free showcase also isn’t at a suitable time for British gamers. That’s a poor showing from Rockstar. Remember, Rockstar Games’ head studio, Rockstar North, is based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
One has to wonder how much Netflix is paying Rockstar Games and how much Take-Two Interactive is getting from this exclusivity deal. Today’s announcement is a teaser for an extended showcase that is paywalled, at least initially. That may be a first for the videogame industry.
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will also launch on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI site at 9 p.m. ET on August 27.

Rockstar’s “An Extended Look” showcase for GTA VI will be one of this year’s biggest gaming events. So far, gamers have seen very little of Grand Theft Auto VI. To say the least, gamers are hungry to see more. GTA 6 is due to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19th. Note that the game has not been announced for PC.
