Ryzen 3000 Series CPU Specifications Leak
Ryzen 3000 Series CPU Specifications Leak
For starters, AdoredTV alleges that AMD will be using the same multi-die technology as their second generation EPYC CPUs, which will allow them to utilise an affordable 14nm I/O die in conjunction with 7nm CPU and GPU cores. This design move will enable AMD to employ the same Zen 2 cores as their upcoming EPYC processors, delivering AMD economies of scale to provide better product bins for consumers and low unit pricing.
On the clock speed front, AMD Ryzen 3000 series processors will boast impressive performance, with their Ryzen 9 3850 boosting all the way up to 5.1GHz, albeit with a 135W TDP. Not bad for a sixteen core processor.Â
Moving onto APUs, AMD will presumably release Navi/Zen 2 based APUs in Q3 of next year, delivering up to eight CPU cores and up to 20 Navi compute units. Today’s Ryzen+Vega series APUs can be very constrained by memory bandwidth. Hopefully, AMD has worked to help address this limitation with their upcoming designs. Â
Looking at these leaks, the first thing that comes to mind is how overly optimistic it all sounds, promising a 6-core processor with a 50W TDP and the launch of the majority of the product lineup at CES, not Computex like older rumours have suggested. AMD has stated many times that they are focusing on ROME (7nm/Zen 2 EPYC) for now, making a CES launch window seem too soon for a consumer product reveal. Â
The promise of 5GHz+ clock speeds in conjunction with the IPC boosts that Zen 2 will offer also come off as being a little too good to be true, though I guess we will have to wait and see if these leaks prove accurate. Â

Ryzen 5 3600X | 8/16 | N/A | 4.0/4.8GHz | 95W | $229 | CES |
Ryzen 5 3600G | 8/16 | Navi (20 CU) | 3.2/4.0GHz | 95W | $199 | Q3 2019 |
Ryzen 7 3700 | 12/24 | N/A | 3.8/4.6GHz | 95W | $299 | CES |
Ryzen 7 3700X | 12/24 | N/A | 4.2/5.0GHz | 105W | $329 | CES |
Ryzen 9 3800X | 16/32 | N/A | 3.9/4.7GHz | 125W | $449 | CES |
Ryzen 9 3850X | 16/32 | N/A | 4.3/5.1GHz | 135W | $499 | May 2019 |
With Ryzen 3000 series CPUs allegedly shipping with TDPs of up to 135W, it is likely that these processors will be underclocked or will otherwise struggle on older 300-series or 400-series motherboards, despite AMD’s promise to offer forward-compatibility through BIOS updates. Â
