Shenmue 3 Enhanced is coming to PC and consoles

Yu Suzuki and publisher ININ Games have announced Shenmue 3 Enhanced, a reworked and tweaked version of the original PC/PlayStation 4 experience. With this release, Shenmue 3 is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and “Nintendo” (likely Switch 2).

This upgraded edition of Shenmue III promises enhanced visuals and quality of life improvements. On PC, the game will support both Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR at launch. Furthermore, the game will feature enhanced 4K textures, more detailed environments, and increased NPC density. Furthermore, the game will feature a new “Classic Camera Mode”, which will make the game feel a lot more like Shenmue and Shenmue II. This new version of Shenmue 3 promises “smoother gameplay” and faster loading times. These changes are likely due to the game’s move to new hardware platforms, which use SSD storage and higher-performance hardware.

Purists can disable “all major changes”

All “major” changes to Shenmue 3 Enhanced will be toggleable, allowing gamers to enjoy the “original” Shenmue 3 experience. By default, this new version of Shenmue 3 will feature refined gameplay, new cutscene/conversation skip options, and improved quick-time event timing windows.

Shenmue 3’s new edition currently has no firm release date. We expect to hear more about the game at Gamescom 2025.

Existing owners of Shenmue 3 on PC and PlayStation 4 will get free upgrades to the game’s new/enhanced versions.
