Silent Hill 2's Enhanced Edition update showcases big changes for the project

Silent Hill 2's PC version should soon receive some major updates

Silent Hill Enhanced Edition is a mod that has delivered several major improvements to the 2002 classic, including support for modern hardware and 16:9 widescreen resolutions, enhanced visuals, better audio and fixed game bugs.

During the project's latest video showcase, several planned improvements to the project were detailed, including planned fixes for longstanding audio bugs within Silent Hill 2's PC version, the addition of new level geometry, and the creation of a level editor for Silent Hill 2's PC version. These changes will allow Silent Hill 2 to run better on multi-core PCs, and allow the mod's developers to improve Silent Hill 2's level geometry and visuals. One planned improvement is the addition of more detailed models throughout the game, including the trees in outdoor sections of the game.

Silent Hill Enhanced Edition is not a single all-encompassing project, it is the sum of several component, most of which need to be downloaded and installed individually. As part of Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition's latest status update video (which you can view below), it has been confirmed that a installer is in the works that will make it easier for Silent Hill fans to install and update the Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Project. Sadly, this launcher is not available at the time of writing.

The Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Project is a must download for Silent Hill 2's PC fans. It allows the game to be played at higher resolutions, with improved visuals/audio, and with improved visuals. As it stands, it is the best way to play Silent Hill 2 on PC. More details about the project are available on the project's website.
