Sony confirms PC-only ray tracing settings for Death Stranding 2

Ray Tracing is coming to Death Stranding 2 on PC

PC players will have access to optional ray tracing upgrades in Death Stranding 2

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is coming to PC on March 19th, with new content arriving on PlayStation 5 on the same day. New content includes a new difficulty mode called “to the wilder” and a “Trapped in a Strange Realm” VR training area, where gamers can replay their fights with Neil. The game will also be receiving new photo mode content.

On PC, players will also get access to unique ray tracing modes that go beyond the game’s “Very High” graphics settings. These settings are ray-traced reflections and Ambient Occlusion. This means that Death Stranding 2’s most advanced visuals will be on PC, at least for those with high-end hardware.

PC gamers will also be able to enjoy Nvidia DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS. Furthermore, the game will support Ultrawide (21:9) and Super-Ultrawide (32:9) for gameplay. Cutscenes will be limited to 21:9.

Additionally, players on PC with high-end PC hardware will have the additional option to enable Ray Tracing on Reflections and Ambient Occlusion via additional settings. When enabled, ray-traced reflections are applied on surfaces such as water and tar, while ray-traced ambient occlusion applies ambient lighting affects to scenes, resulting in more realistic shadows in crevices, corners, and between objects. These additional PC options are aimed at players with powerful hardware that want to push visual fidelity beyond the “Very High” graphics settings the game already offers. Though would like to note that Ray Tracing is not part of the minimum or recommended specifications for the core experience and is not required to enjoy the game as intended.

On PC, Death Stranding 2 will also support mouse/keyboard controls with full key rebinding. Additionally, the game will support Sony’s DualSense controller alongside other gamepads. Spatial audio is also supported.

Death Stranding 2’s PC system requirements are available here. Note that this game’s system requirements do not account for ray tracing. That means gamers will need higher-end hardware to enable ray tracing on PC and maintain high framerates.
